NHSO Investigating Early Morning Theft

New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Deputies are currently investigating an early morning theft of a vehicle, trailer and ATV’s from 321Burbank Rd.  Approximately 7:30am this morning a man was driving down River Road when he noticed his friend’s vehicle and trailer with ATV’s in the back of the trailer on the side of the road with the trailer detached.  The man approached the vehicle to see if his friend needed help when a black male appeared. The man confronted the suspect in which a short scuffle ensued. The suspect then pulled a knife and told the man “don’t come any closer”. The man got back in his car, left and called 911.  The suspect reattached the trailer and traveled north on River Road towards downtown.  The suspect crashed the blazer just south of Mott’s Landing in the 5800 block of River Road where he fled on a Yamaha scooter into the Mott’s Village housing development.  Deputies located the abandoned scooter and began tracking the suspect utilizing K-9.  The suspect is a black male, approximately 5’5” tall, scruffy facial hair, wearing a purple puffy jacket and jeans.  The vehicle, a white four door blazer, utility trailer, one of the quad ATV’s and the Yamaha scooter have been recovered.  A red Yamaha quad ATV with “910” on the side is still missing.  Deputies believe a second suspect may be in possession of this ATV.  Anyone with any information on the theft or the stolen ATV please contact the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at 910-798-4162 or text a tip at https://www.newhanoversheriff.com/Detective-Tip.html
