NHSO Warns Against Fraud

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating possible fraud.  Sheriff McMahon was informed by a citizen in regards to a man who was approaching people in the Golden Corral located on New Center Dr.  He stated that they would need a special identification card to be able to vote in next month’s election.  The suspect, a white male, wearing glasses, 30-40 years old, approached a couple who were having lunch in the restaurant and informed the couple that he was signing people up for the new voter identification card.  He stated that he needed all of their information such as name, address, party affiliation, and social security number to get them signed up for the new voter identification card.  Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating this case and additional information will be released as it becomes available.  For any information related to voter registration please contact the New Hanover County Board of Elections at 798-7330, http://elections.nhcgov.com/
