NHSO K-9 Unit Receives Ballistic Vest

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit will be receiving a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to the efforts of Vested Interest in K9s, Inc, a Massachusetts based non-profit organization and a local veterinary hospital.  Paws and Claws Animal Hospital in Wilmington began fundraising efforts for K-9 Unit of New Hanover Sheriff’s Office and Wilmington Police Department K-9 units, mid-November.  In addition to the four vests that were donated through the event, an anonymous donation was made to the charity for the gift of three additional vests for the New Hanover County K-9 Unit. The goal is to outfit the K9’s from New Hanover, Wilmington and Brunswick County with the life-saving body armor.  Anyone interested in participating may contact Paws and Claws Animal Hospital at  (910) 399-3768 or donate online through Crowdrise: http://www.crowdrise.com/pawsthatserve
