On September 11, 2012, long time drug dealer, Darryl Bernard Pearsall Jr. was arrested and charged with a may lay of marijuana related drug charges. Pearsall’s arrest came after an 8 week investigation which included the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Pender County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office received information that Pearsall was in possession of approximately 4 pounds of marijuana with a street value of more than $9,500.00. After conducting surveillance Detectives observed Pearsall operating a blue 2006 Mitsubishi Galant, in the Porters Neck area of New Hanover County. Detectives were then able to catch up to Pearsall and conduct a vehicle stop near the intersection of Market St. and Bayshore Dr. Pearsall attempted to flee from law enforcement in his vehicle but Detectives were able to get him safely stopped at the intersection of Market St. and Brief Rd. Pearsall was taken into custody without further incident. A search of his vehicle revealed a plastic bag in the front driver’s floorboard that contained 4 pounds of marijuana.
As a result of Pearsall’s arrest Detectives from Pender County were able to search two residences in connection with Pearsall in the Hampstead area. Pearsall was charged by the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana, Maintaining a Vehicle for Drugs, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Pearsall also faces similar charges from the Pender Counties Sheriff’s Office. Pearsall is currently in the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $200,000.00 secure bond.
