Booze It & Lose It Campaign
Local law enforcement agencies from across the state will join the Governor’s Highway Safety Program to kick off its “Booze It & Lose It: Operation Firecracker” campaign. GHSP Director Becky Wallace, Sheriff Ingram of Brunswick County, Capt. Taft of New Hanover Sheriff’s Office and LaRhonda Scott from MADD will speak at the event. Together they will speak on the mission of getting all drunk drivers off the road and bringing awareness to tragic and sobering consequences that can result by driving after drinking.
The Fourth of July campaign begins Friday, June 29 and continues through began Sunday, July 8. Additional checkpoints and stepped up patrols will be conducted across the state during the campaign. Officers charged more than 1,100 North Carolina motorists with DWI during the 2011 “Booze It & Lose It: Operation Firecracker” campaign. More than 3,700 stepped-up patrols and checkpoints were conducted.
