Shortly after noon on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 Deputies were called to 159 Golden Rd. for a B&E in progress. A white in color Saturn vehicle was seen leaving the residence towards Masonboro Loop Road. Deputies observed the vehicle turn off of Masonboro Loop Road onto Piner Road at a high rate of speed. Deputies attempted to turn around and catch up with the suspect vehicle. Patrol supervisors advised Deputies to observe the vehicle license number but not to engage in a chase. They obtained the vehicle license plate number and withdrew from pursuit of the vehicle. Deputies then broadcasted the description of the vehicle and suspects wanted in the B&E. Shortly after broadcasting a “BOLO”, North Carolina State Highway Patrol located the suspect vehicle and engaged a vehicle stop. The suspects fled into Pine Valley subdivision where they jumped and ran from the vehicle. Melvin Woodrow Boyer Jr., a 25 year old white male, was arrested a short distance from the vehicle. He has been charge with, Breaking and Entering- felony, Larceny after Entering- felony, Speeding to Elude Arrest- felony, DWI-misdemeanor, and Reckless Driving to Endanger- Misdemeanor. Boyer is currently being held in the NHC Detention Facility under a $ 49,500.00 secure bond.
