Captain Lachlan MacNeish Graduates FBI Academy

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate Captain Lachlan MacNeish on his graduation from the 243 session of the FBI National Academy. The FBI National Academy is a professional course of study for U.S. and international law enforcement leaders that serves to improve the administration of justice in police departments and agencies at home and abroad and to raise law enforcement standards, knowledge, and cooperation worldwide.

The Academy is a 10 week process, where participants take undergraduate and/or graduate college courses in Quantico, Virginia.  Courses cover areas of law, behavioral science, forensic science, understanding terrorism/terrorist mindsets, leadership development, communication, and health/fitness. Officers participate in a wide range of leadership and specialized training, and they share ideas, techniques, and experiences with each other, creating lifelong partnerships that span state and national lines.

Captain MacNeish was a section leader at the academy and completed the swim challenge as well as the “Yellow Brick Road” physical challenge.  Captain MacNeish is also a graduate of North Carolina State University Administrative Officers Management Program. Currently Captain MacNeish is the Division Commander over Security in the Detention Division.
