The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Community Services Unit participated in the annual Wilmington Christian Academy Carnival. Community Services Unit aids in distributing literature about community watches, business crime prevention and several other community outreach programs. Children received Junior Deputy Badges, pencils, Junior Deputy tattoos and Junior Deputy stickers. Also on-hand were the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Explorers.
The Explorer program is for young adults between the ages of 14 and 21. It is sponsored by The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and The Boy Scouts of America. The program has an emphasis on Law Enforcement, community involvement, and service. Members receive training, work special events, participate in community service events, and learn about law enforcement.
