Substantial Heroin Bust
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Vice and Narcotics Detectives have made a substantial heroin bust. Detectives have arrested two individuals and warrants have been issued for two others involved with this investigation.
Based on the investigation by Vice and Narcotic Detectives, it was determined that there was a specific organization responsible for supplying large quantities of heroin to New Hanover County. Detectives continued to investigate leads which led them to Newark, New Jersey and to the subjects involved. Further investigation revealed that these subjects would be coming to the Wilmington area.
On Thursday August 12, Detectives located a vehicle in the Castle Hayne area and initiated a traffic stop. After concluding the traffic stop it was determined that vehicle would be seized and a search warrant applied for regarding a more detailed search of the vehicle.
After completing a detailed search of the vehicle, detectives discovered several hidden switches under the dashboard that manipulated a hydraulic hidden compartment in the rear of the vehicle. Inside the hidden compartment, detectives found 1500 bags of heroin, 12 grams of crack cocaine, and a half ounce of marijuana.
