NEW HANOVER – New Hanover County Public Safety Communications received a 911 call at 11:52 a.m. indicating there was a bomb on the second floor of the New Hanover County Courthouse.
The call, originating from a pay phone at 902 Rankin Street, is believed to have been placed by a white male who was seen using the payphone just before the threat was received. The suspect is described as a white male with sandy blond hair wearing a white baseball hat, a red or orange shirt and khaki shorts.
Courthouse officials evacuated and searched the building but did not locate a bomb. The public was allowed to re-enter the courthouse just after 1:00 p.m.
