Back to School “Buddy” Program a Success
WILMINGTON – On Wednesday, Sheriff Ed McMahon attended the 9th annual Back to School “Buddy” program presentation at the Elks Lodge #532. This program, designed to provide essential school supplies to less fortunate kids, is sponsored by the Elks Lodge with the assistance of city and county leaders.
Also in attendance with Elks Lodge program coordinators was District Attorney Ben David, Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous, Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo, Superintendent of New Hanover County Schools Dr. Al Lerch, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Rick Holliday, Wilmington Fire Captain Tim Smith and CEO of Wilmington Housing Authority Michael Krause.
Community leaders will gather on Saturday and assist program coordinators with the distribution of school supplies in several Wilmington communities. For more information on this program, contact the Elks Lodge at (910) 799-2365.
