Did you know? Pollinators are a vital component of our ecosystem, and an essential link to the world's food supply. That's one of the reasons why it's so important to learn about them and protect them, and that's why Parks and Gardens is participating in the Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz this September.
What is a BioBlitz? The Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz is an event where community members work with parks staff to create a snapshot of the variety of wildlife found in local parks. Participants will use an app called iNaturalist to take pictures of plants, insects and animals to see what wildlife is present in our community. The information gathered during the month will help us understand how we can better protect pollinators in our community.
Participants may join our team on the INaturalist app and upload photos taken on their own throughout the month of September and/or you can attend one of our organized BioBlitz events for an introduction to iNaturalist and to spend some time taking photos in the following parks with our educators:
