Amenities
Catch-and-release fishing is allowed at the following parks with a valid NC Fishing License:
- River Road Park
- Smith Creek Park
- Trails End Park
The rebuilding of the River Road Park Pier was completed in July.
A fishing license may be obtained at the NC Wildlife Resources Commission.
Fishing is a popular recreational activity in New Hanover County and many people enjoy eating their catch. North Carolina encourages people to eat a variety of fish because of the health benefits, however, certain fish contain high levels of contaminants such as mercury that may pose a health risk to humans.

StoryWalk® encourages both family literacy and physical activity by posting pages from a children's picture book along a path or walking trail. Families walk along the trail, reading a page at a time together and interacting with the story and with each other. StoryWalk® is a collaboration between New Hanover County Parks and Gardens and Public Library.
