Citizen Information Leads to Drug Bust

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office received information from a citizen that possible drug activity was going to take place with a recently released inmate from the New Hanover County Detention Facility.  NHSO Vice and Narcotics Detectives were notified and began their investigation with surveillance of Vasthi Baptist.  Baptist arrived home and detectives observed him getting into a gold in color Nissan sedan.  Detectives observed three men including Baptist in the vehicle beginning to move around and decided to investigate further.  Upon approaching the vehicle detectives noticed the men attempting to swallow packages.  Detectives quickly detained the three men and began to search each individual.  Detectives recovered 20 bags of Heroin from Sharif Delon Craig.  Baptist was found in possession of 1 bag of heroin and the driver of the vehicle Hezekiah Nixon IV was in possession of 29 bags of heroin and 16 bags of marijuana.  “Thanks to the information gathered from a citizen we were able to remove another dangerous drug dealer from the streets, stated Lt. J. LeBlanc.”
