Breaking & Entering – Victim Kidnapped – Suspect Arrested

NEW HANOVER – At 3:47 a.m. Deputies responded to a Breaking & Entering in Progress at 1344 Hill Valley Walk.  The two victims returned home and found lights on inside their residence.  The male victim called 911 and entered the residence, leaving the female victim in the vehicle.  Once inside, he encountered two suspects who fled from the residence.  One of the suspects left the area in the suspect vehicle, the other left in the victim’s vehicle, with the female victim still inside.  One of the two suspects fired several shots while fleeing from this area.

The suspect that fled in the victim’s vehicle abandoned the vehicle at a nearby residence and forced the victim into a wooded area at gunpoint to avoid detection.  Deputies located the victim’s vehicle and a K-9 Team located the suspect and female victim.  The remaining suspect abandoned his vehicle at the intersection of Hill Valley Walk and Carolina Beach Road.  Detectives believe this unidentified suspect is seeking shelter at a nearby residence.

The located suspect was identified as Jermaine Cordova, 33, of Hampstead.  Cordova, charged with breaking & entering, larceny of motor vehicle and kidnapping, remains in custody at the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $500,000 secured bond.

Neither of the two victims were injured during this incident.
