Chapel Hill Man Leads Deputies on Two-County Chase

NEW HANOVER – An early morning pursuit came to an end after a Chapel Hill resident led Deputies through New Hanover and into Pender County.

Marcus Freeman Rogers, 28, of Chapel Hill was arrested at approximately 4:00 a.m. after leading Deputies on a pursuit that originated just before 3:30 a.m. on Carolina Beach Road at Cathy Road.  The pursuit proceeded south into Carolina Beach, turned north through Wilmington, before coming to an end on I-40, just before the Burgaw exit.

Marcus Rogers, charged with felony eluding arrest, resisting a public officer, and failure to obey traffic signals, was released from the New Hanover County Detention Facility after posting a $5,000 secured bond.

Deputies initiated the traffic stop to further investigate the vehicle which was found to be involved in the shooting into an occupied dwelling in Wilmington.  That incident remains under investigation by the Wilmington Police Department.
