Vann Homicide Continues – One Year Later

NEW HANOVER – On Thursday, January 29, 2009 just after 12:30 a.m., Deputies responded to a rural area of River Road to find the body of 22-year old Alton Corey Vann.  Vann died as a result of a gunshot wound.

On May 28th, the family of Vann and the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office announced the availability of a reward for information leading to an arrest in this investigation.  The Sheriff’s Office remains a collaborative partner with Crime Stoppers and the Wilmington Police Department which has expanded the venues of receiving information.

One year later tomorrow, the homicide investigation of Alton Corey Vann continues.  Detectives are still searching for clues that may break the case.  Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives as they work to bring closure for the Vann family.   Information may be provided anonymously, by one of the three methods below.
