Citizen Helps Catch Vehicle Thieves

NEW HANOVER – Just before 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, an observant citizen called 911 to report two whites males entering vehicles in the area of Cape Harbor Apartments.  With the prompt response and helpful descriptions provided by the caller, Deputies responded and observed two males matching the description.  As Deputies approached one of the suspects fled the area on foot.  Craig Wayne Gable, 26 of Wilmington, arrested and charged with breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, misdemeanor larceny and felony conspirarcy, is being held in custody at the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $10,000 secured bond.  Detectives have identified the second subject and anticipate a forthcoming arrest.

UPDATE:  Thursday, January 28, 2010 – 10:00 a.m.

Michael Scaturro

Detectives have arrested the second subject involved in the breaking and entering to vehicles in the area of Cape Harbor Apartments.  Michael Anthony Scaturro Jr., 23 of Wilmington, surrendered to Detectives late Wednesday evening.  Mr. Scaturro has been charged with two counts of breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, two counts of misdemeanor larceny and two counts of felony conspiracy.  Mr. Scaturro is being held at the Detention Facility under a $35,000 securd bond.

Detective have charged Craig Gable with an additional count of breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, misdemeanor larceny and felony conspiracy.  Gable remains in custody with a modified of $35,000 secured.
