Hwy 421 Interdiction Leads to Arrests

NEW HANOVER – Sheriff’s Deputies working interdiction on Highway 421 led to the arrest of two South Carolina men and the seizure of more than five pounds of marijuana. Carlos Antwoine Ellerby (left), stopped for a moving violation, was arrested after a police canine led to the discovery of more than five pounds of marijuana that was concealed in a beverage cooler.
Ellerby was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a vehicle to keep / deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Ellerby’s passenger, Oshay Jamar Scott (right), was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a vehicle to keep / deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia. Ellerby posted a $75,000 secured bond and Scott posted a $20,000 secured bond, both men were released.
