The Support Services Division provides assistance to the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of New Hanover County.  The Division consists of the Animal Services Unit, Professional Standards, CALEA, Recruitment, Internal Affairs,  Crime Awareness and Prevention Unit, Logistics, Tactical Flight Officer assigned to the SABLE program and the Sheriff’s Office Range.

 

The Commander of this Division is Captain B. Blackmon and he is assisted by the Assistant Division Commander Lieutenant C. Wilson.  Their responsibilities include supervising five Lieutenants, two Sergeants, Corporals and a number of Deputies and Animal Services officers.

 

The Support Services Division also oversees the Sheriff’s Office Chaplain’s, VIPR program and is responsible for coordinating the Sheriff’s Citizens Academy. The symbol for this Division is a set of columns which show each individual unit representing a pillar to support the day to day operations of the Sheriff’s Office.
