The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) is a group of highly skilled individuals whose primary purpose is to respond to emergency or high risk situations within the New Hanover County Detention Facility.  The SRT is a voluntary unit within the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Division.  The team members are disciplined, motivated, and highly trained in tactical response.  The primary objective of the SRT is to promote safe, secure and orderly operation of the New Hanover County Detention Facility.

 

 

  

The Team and all its’ members strictly adhere to all guidelines, policies, and procedures concerning the team’s actions and the use of force set forth by the Standard Operating Procedures of the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, the Detention Division and the SRT Team. Thorough documentation of the Team’s actions, training and deployment are kept on file for review.

                                    

                                                               

SRT objectives are accomplished through the use of specialized training, tactics and equipment to greatly reduce the risk of liability, bodily injury and or property damage within the New Hanover County Detention Facility.
