The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team (SRT)
was officially formed in August of 2009 following nearly seven
years of research and planning. This research included
statistics and foresight into the future of Detention and
Correctional facilities nationwide. Special Response Team (SRT)
training covers a large spectrum of responses to include
assaults, riots, barricade situations, hostage negotiations,
hostage rescue, along with high risk escort and transportation.
